This is an interactive workshop for adults, based on the Calypso rhythm from the Caribbean.
This workshop explores the hypnotic rhythms of Calypso. Calypso music originates in Trinidad in the Caribbean and was made world famous by Harry Belefonte with such songs as ‘Matilda’, ‘Banana Boat Song’ and ‘Jamaica Farwell’.
Rhythm ‘n’ Steel gives participants a brief history of the Steel Drums and information on the making of them. It also gives participants information on the configuration of the drums and an up close experience them that will soothe any curiosities.
This fun and interactive workshop will have participants wrapped in the atmosphere of the Caribbean, giving them a sweet chunk of Caribbean culture through the magical sounds of the Steel Drums.
Rhythm ‘n' Steel is a two hour workshop split into two 50 minute halves and can booked through the Australian Academy of Steel Drums only.
